Experience in dealing with the structural aspects of buildings and
structures from small scale domestic alterations to major developments, and in respect of all common building materials
A suitable recognised structural engineering qualification eg. MI Struct
A knowledge of British Standards relating to the design of buildings and
structures.
A good knowledge of construction and materials
An ability to analyse buildings and structures to ensure safe design
A practical approach to resolving structural requirements both in design
desk check and from site meetings.
An ability to manage a changing work load within set time limits.
An ability to communicate well with both clients and colleagues
Act as adviser to Building Control on structural matters.
Act with the Building Control officer in dealing with reported dangerous
structures
Assist in the management and training of group officers particularly on
structural matters.A commitment to equal opportunities and the ability to

A good knowledge of health and safety issues and a commitment to
incorporating proper H & S into the working ethos of the group.
