You will be responsible for the assessment of applications for housing from applicants in private and public sector housing for assessment as to their eligibility and priority against the Housing Act 1996 Part 6 and 7 of the Council?s Allocation Scheme To provide support to the Community Housing Department and South Essex Homes including maintaining files and records and dealing with enquiries from the public. To contribute to the delivery of housing advice, housing service standards and housing policy and provide assistance to the Community Housing Department, South Essex Homes and Registered Social Landlords in carrying out their duties Maintain an up to date knowledge of housing legislation relating to broader housing issues, homelessness. To assess, review and manage housing applications from applicants in private and public sector housing to assess their eligibility and priority against the Housing Act 1996 Part 6 and 7 and the Councils Allocation Scheme. To maintain the Councils computerised Housing Register database and in particular: Check the application for completeness and accuracy of data and that all supported documentation has been submitted Assess the application for eligibility to join the Housing Register and priority in accordance with legislation and the Councils Allocation Scheme Produce, verify and send out the required correspondence to applicants regarding their application for housing Process standard reports Make applications live on the system within the appropriate priority level Deal with any amendments to applications In maintaining the manual and computerised records ensure that applicants housing records accurately reflect the applicants current housing circumstances Deal with all telephone, written and face to face enquiries from applicants applying for housing promptly and in accordance with Service Standards Provide applicants with holistic housing options advice including alternative housing options i.e. shared ownership, mutual exchange, accommodation in the private rented sector etc
