Job Details:

To provide technical support in a specialist area of work to the Environmental Health Division

To carry out monitoring, surveys and inspections; prepare detailed reports and schedules in connection therewith to an advanced level. Carry out surveys outside normal working hours on occasions as required.

To represent the Head of Environmental Health at Panels, Working Parties, and Public Meetings as required; to give evidence in legal proceedings, Public Inquiries and enforcement action.

To give advice to owners, architects, surveyors, builders, Council officers (including other Departments), tenants etc., on matters relating to noise, asbestos, waste, air pollution and water pollution and quality. Undertake the sampling of materials and substances in relation to the work of the Section.

Undertake asbestos fibre counting and identification in accordance with detailed Government Guidelines, as required; participate in relevant quality control schemes, re-training etc.

Qualified Analyst - Hold a P401 to 405 from the British Occupational Health Society (BOHS) with P403 and 404, the preferred qualifications

Previous experience of working within the asbestos analytical field

UK Driving Licence and will be required to sit the Council's Driving Test to enable them to drive a Council vehicle
