Housing Advice CaseworkerJob ID: 2248 Job Details: Purpose of the job:
1. To prevent homelessness by solving housing-debt problems.
2. To run housing-debt/money-advice outreach/surgery sessions across the department.
3. To assist in the development of a housing-debt/money-advice service across all housing tenures. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provision of advice and casework to prevent repossession on the grounds of rent and mortgage arrears.
2. Promotion of Our Client’s housing-debt/money-advice service within their target area.
3. Liaison and negotiation with landlords and with mortgage lenders on behalf on clients.
4. Liaison with referral agencies. Job Activities:
1. Provision of housing-debt/money-advice information, advice and casework to individuals and groups via leaflets and guides; through interview, home-visit, telephone, fax. Letter and/or e-mail; and via training sessions, meetings and outreach events.
2. Identification and preparation of debt management plans.
3. Exploration and identification of options and implications so that clients can choose the best range of solutions to resolve their housing-debt/money-advice problems.
4. Drawing up income and expenditure assessments for clients.
5. Identifying ways that clients can minimise their debt.
6. Representation in the civil courts.
