Course Description
Everyone who works with food, whatever their job title and responsibilities, needs to update their food hygiene knowledge from time to time. The overall aim of this course is to remind students how to work with food in a hygienic manner that prevents contamination and protects consumers from food poisoning. It ensures students are familiar with key aspects of current legislation, good practice and food safety issues
Entry Requirements
Only students who have achieved a Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene (formerly the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate) or an equivalent qualification from another awarding body within the last 5 years are eligible to attend this course. Students will be required to provide proof of their previous qualification.
What the course will cover
Hazards: dealing with the problems that are at the heart of food safety.
Controls: dealing with issues of prevention and control.
Legal compliance: dealing with the principles of food safety legislation and key legal requirements.
How students will be taught
Students will experience a range of teaching methods including explanation/information from the tutor, group discussions, question and answer sessions, individual work and working with a partner or small group.
Assessment
Multiple choice test provided by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

The course is conducted in English. The examination is available in a range of foreign languages and can also be conducted orally if necessary.
