Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Level 1 Principles of Manual Handling
Course Description
The Principles of Manual Handling course is aimed at those who carry out manual handling activities at work and introduces students to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved, the controls available, and what to expect from a manual handling assessment. The qualification is not intended to train students to carry out manual handling assessments nor to provide detailed training on handling techniques.

What the course will cover
The process of manual handling in the workplace.
Manual handling injuries and the activities which cause them.
Manual handling assessment and control options.
Responsibilities imposed by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations.
How students will be taught
Students will experience a range of teaching methods including explanation/information from the tutor, group discussions, question and answer sessions, individual work and working with a partner or small group.
Assessment
Multiple choice test set by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

£45 per person plus CIEH fees (currently £7.10 per person) plus VAT
Inhouse course for up to 20 people £450 plus CIEH fees (currently £7.10 per person) plus VAT
Other Information
The course is conducted in English. The examination is available in a range of foreign languages and can also be conducted orally if necessary.
